Class Experience

These classes are suitable for anyone who would like to brush up on their guitar abilities or is picking up the guitar for the first time.

You'll learn:

finger position: often many students aren't certain how and where to place their fingers. During the entire length of the course, there will be continued support and explanations of correct finger placement. If your fingers are firmly and accurately in position you may find it challenging to get a clear and well-defined sound on the guitar. I will be going into specifics as to the advantage of knowing which is the optimal finger to use and how you can make the physical demands of a stringed instrument much simpler to tackle.

2) Fretting: there are many ways to play the guitar. One of the most fun and interesting methods for a beginner to learn would be fretting technique. Becoming well versed in optimal fretting technique will allow you to create incredible guitar solos, mimic iconic guitar riffs and build real speed. You'll be learning some of the theory and concepts of true fretting mastery that you can begin building upon as a beginner.

3) Strumming: one of the most important abilities for a new guitar player is to learn how to strum efficiently and accurately. I will be teaching up and down stroke patterns up to 4 beats long and a variety of common 4 beat rhythms used in many pop and rock genres. Along with strumming, you'll also learn some vital 2 finger chords.

4) 2 riffs: another important asset in the vocabulary of any guitarist is that of riffs. Riffs are the most easily identifiable part of a song and as soon as you play them anyone listening will automatically know you're a great player. You'll be learning 1 classic rock and 1 modern pop-rock riffs to immediately be able to impress your friends and family with your guitar abilities.

5) How to Read Tab: it can be extremely intimidating to learn an instrument and how to read sheet music at the same time. That's why an amazingly easy charting system was created called tab. Guitar tabs help you to know exactly what string and fret to play without getting frustrated at the complexity of sight-reading music notes. Professional guitarists have adapted this simple system into their playing many many decades now and it is widely accepted as a necessity for any real musician to understand thoroughly.

There is so much this course will cover and introduce you to. I look forward to having you with me during the first initial steps you take on your journey to becoming an incredible guitarist!
