These ongoing jam band classes will be covering the following: Week 1: Everyone will vote on a song they like. We will listen to the song together and choose one part to learn. All learners will have the opportunity to watch me sort out each part, for each instrument by ear. The exercise I will be demonstrating will be a great introduction for more advanced skills they will be learning with me in other classes. Week 2: For students who are continuing from a previous week - learners will be refining their ability to play through their chosen piece and get ready to perform it. If they perform and complete their piece, they may begin to learn the next section of the song or a section from a new song. For new students who will be joining for the first time - learners will have the ability to select the next song we will be learning together. I will demonstrate an ear training exercise as preparation for more advanced musical abilities. Week 3: For students who are continuing from a previous week - Each student will begin to prepare to perform the piece for their classmates and teacher. We will be focusing on practice routine and the attention to detail necessary to play an instrument at a higher skill level. During this week we will also be discussing learning a new section of our chosen song. For new students who will be joining for the first time - learners will have the ability to select the next song we will be learning together. I will demonstrate an ear training exercise as preparation for more advanced musical abilities. Week 4: Musical theory, notation & tablature. This week we will learning some of the foundational concepts for improvisation, soloing and jamming. For students who are continuing from a previous week - learners will have the ability to perform their song for everyone if they are ready to do so. Week 5: For students who are continuing from a previous week - learners will be refining their ability to play through their chosen piece and get ready to perform it. If they perform and complete their piece, they may begin to learn the next section of the song or a section from a new song. For new students who will be joining for the first time - learners will have the ability to select the next song we will be learning together. I will demonstrate an ear training exercise as preparation for more advanced musical abilities.
