Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
This class is just right for children who are ready to start learning letters or can already recognize some or all of their letters. In this ongoing class, we will meet once a week, for 25 minutes, to focus on one upper and lower case letter (Aa) in each class. Each week(not in alphabetical order) will learn a different letter. The letter of the week will be posted in the classroom at the beginning of the week(the schedule is also listed below).

They will learn the letter name, sound, how to write the upper and lowercase letter, and vocabulary(with pictures) that start with that letter. We will also draw a picture that starts with the letter.

Show and Tell: Each week, I would like to encourage each Learner to find ONE object that starts with the letter of the week and bring it to class for Show and Tell.

The children will have many opportunities to socialize as we identify real pictures and props, answer questions, share knowledge, and make the letter sounds! I will also provide an activity on the classroom page, after each class, that can printed out for additional fun and practice at home. I am looking forward to meeting you in class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching for the last 27 years in a variety of settings. I have worked with children 3 to 12 years of age. I have created curriculum for 3-6 year old's, tutored, been a nanny, an assistant director, assistant teacher for early learners in the school district, and taught English (ESL) online. I have a BA in Early Childhood Education and a BA in Psychology. I love to find creative ways for children to learn and have fun! I believe children learn best through a variety of means including: repetition, writing, movement, creativity, socialization, fun, and a positive attitude. If I do not know the answer to a child's question, I will research it and let them know. Knowledge is a powerful tool that can create a spark for future learning and life adventures. I can not wait to have fun teaching and learning from your little ones! See you in the classroom!
