Description
Class Experience
The goal of the class is for students to use the traditional vertical method to solve subtraction regrouping math problems.
I have been a classroom teacher for 26 years and use this vertical regrouping method successfully, along with other various strategies for solving math problems, to help build the bridge between concrete and mental math mastery.
It will be important for students to practice the vertical method of regrouping in order to commit it to memory and master the skill using the steps involved.
The learners will need to bring a whiteboard, dry erase pen, and eraser to class.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
I strongly recommend students learn vertical addition with regrouping BEFORE they are introduced to vertical subtraction with regrouping. While students may not totally master ALL the skills related to regrouping subtraction in one 45-minute math class, through repeated practice and implementation of the skills taught in class, they will be masters of vertical subtraction in no time!
