Class Experience

We will be using interactive worksheets that will need printed done during class time and in between classes to memorize specific points on numbers, and learning how to use them in basic addition and subtraction. These printed worksheets will involve simple math and focus more on the specific numbers in order for students to do math easier in their heads without having to count on their fingers. There will be options for questions from each child as needed, and more printed worksheets can be given if a child may need more practice. Class 1 will be learning numbers 1-5 and one digit by one digit addition and subtraction. Class 2 will be learning numbers 6-9 and one digit by one digit addition and subtraction. There will be printed worksheets to complete in between classes available to print.The focus is on the touch points, not the math. I do not want any child to struggle with the math. It will simply take the focus off of learning the touch point. Therefore, students should be able to complete basic one digit addition and subtraction prior to class.

Learning Goals

Students will leave class with the ability to visualize the specific points on numbers in order to count and do math in their heads easier. They will, at first, learn to place the points on paper, then, be able to point to each point on the number without an answer key.  This will make math much quicker and easier to visualize.

All worksheets throughout the class will be provided. A printer is needed to print the worksheets that coincide with each class.

External Resources

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! I am a married mother of 3 boys, ages 9,14 and 24, that keep me on my toes! I have spent a year homeschooling my son, and I love reading and writing and all that comes with it.
