US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner - Intermediate Level
I practice differentiated instruction to meet all my students’ needs. My classroom environment is positive safe, welcoming, and very structured. Students will receive the rules and expectations at the beginning of the class and will learn my classroom management reward system. Students will be engaged through whole group discussions, independent guided practice sets, and problem solving activities in small groups. I will provide one-on-one support to students during the lesson who may be struggling. This is a one time class and it will focus on several different strategies for division. As students progress through elementary and middle school mathematics, one of the biggest struggles I have seen is in division. Division is an extremely important mathematical operation that students will need to know throughout their lives and apply it to also fractions and decimals and upper grade levels. Students will be interacting in whole group discussions during instruction that I will present through Google slides. Students will solve independent guided practice problems to check for understanding. Students will work collaboratively on their problem-solving activities and word problems in small groups on their Canva whiteboard.
Learning Goals
Students will find whole-number quotients of whole numbers with up to three-digit dividends and two-digit divisors using multiple different strategies. Students will learn and apply the area model, partial quotients, and the standard algorithm.
