This group is dedicated to reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Unit is a Common Core Standard aligned novel study to be used with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. This unit is perfectly designed to help your students enjoy reading this first excerpt from the Harry Potter series. Students will learn to use an interdisciplinary approach to literature in order to develop the various skills necessary for successful learning, to engage students in their learning using a popular literature series, to encourage intrinsic responsibility for each student’s personal education by providing opportunities for independent choice and assignments.
Throughout the course, students will have a study guide and vocabulary guide to do as homework for each class and will be graded. During class, there will also be in-class activities and crafts for students to participate in. We will also be studying spells from the Standard Book of Spells book and will be making our own wands.
Kahoot (app or website will do) Other supplies will be introduced as we move through the course.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed on daily homework, participation, and a final assessment.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
