Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
This group is dedicated to reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Unit is a Common Core Standard aligned novel study to be used with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. This unit is perfectly designed to help your students enjoy reading this first excerpt from the Harry Potter series. It includes vocabulary lists, vocabulary activities, in-class activities, study guides, quizzes, and activities for each major section in the book. Then, you also receive a test, writing prompts, and a variety of projects that will only enhance the reading for your students. It is required that your student have a copy of the book to read on their own. The expectation of the students in this class is to be fully engaged in class during class time as well as being fully engaged in the activities, and projects when assigned to the student to do outside of class. At the end of the unit, students will share out their projects.

This is the weekly breakdown of the course:

Hello! My name is Teacher Hannah. I have been a teacher for 10 years. My experiences include public elementary and middle school, after school programs, summer camp settings, online setting, autism therapy, and I am also a special education teacher in the public elementary setting. My career has allowed me to teach a range of students which includes, gifted students, students with specific learning needs, students with behavioral needs, students on the Autism spectrum, and English language learners.

I have taught many different subjects throughout my years. Some of my favorite topics to teach include but are not limited to read alouds, Harry Potter, exercise (any physical activities), yoga, any and all animals, discussion groups, space, social and emotional learning, self-regulation, and many more!

When I am working with students, I encourage them to create a sense of community among themselves. Working together verses as an independent instructor and a group of students help create a safe place for ideas to flow. I want students to leave my classroom as well-rounded people who can interact with their peers as independent thinkers.

I encourage my students to make mistakes and learn from them and to have a growth mindset. When children challenge themselves they are exercising and growing their brains. When a student fails at something I want them to see it as a learning opportunity. Learning to challenge themselves in and outside the classroom will help them become persistent, resilient, well-rounded individuals.

When I am not teaching I enjoy drawing, reading, hiking, exercising, singing, dancing, nature, animals, playing video games, listening to music, taking care of my autistic brother, and being with my spouse and family.

I look forward to seeing you in the classroom and all the learning and fun we will have!
