Introduction to Public Speaking for High School Students

Over the course of five weeks students will learn and practice the basics of many varieties of public speaking. By the end of the course they will be better prepared to give many different types of speeches in front of large groups. Each class includes both a short lecture followed by an activity to help students learn the skill being taught during the lecture portion of class so that way students learn by participating. We will encourage the use of google docs for speech-writing and revisions. Students having a google account or access to an account is required to use that platform. However, students who are unable to utilize the google suite will also be accommodated with purely oral revisions and suggestions to improve their speeches. To get the most out of the class, we do recommend use of google docs.
