IEW Adventures in Writing (Part 2)

In part two of this IEW writing class, students write about exciting topics such as Roman hoplites, tornadoes, Leif Eriksson, and other fascinating subjects as they learn to write with Structure and Style.

US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner Level
In this beginner IEW writing class, students write about fascinating subjects such as Roman hoplites, tornadoes, and Leif Eriksson while they learn to write with Structure and Style. 

This IEW course completes seven of the nine units and is broken into parts one and two.
Part two completes units five through seven.

Students must be able to read at a fourth-grade level or higher.

Students will have homework to turn in. Students must be able to type or neatly handwrite their assignments and turn them in. 

I will edit turned-in assignments, and learners will receive feedback.

In this class, students will:
-Practice making keyword outlines and narrating a story using their outlines
-Practice writing a paragraph from pictures
-Practice retelling a story in their own words using their outlines
-Practice creating a title for their story
-Practice summarizing multiple references
-Practice writing a paragraph given only a prompt
-Practice using dress-ups and new vocabulary to make interesting sentences
-Practice using English grammar

Using slides and interaction, I will teach the lesson or concept the students will work on during class. 

I will model lessons, and we will work together in class to brainstorm ideas. 

Students are expected to complete assignments after each class and should expect to spend time completing assignments outside of class.
