Students will work through the second half of Structure and Style for Students Year 1 Level B. This course begins with lesson thirteen. Structure and Style for Students Year 1 Level B teaches beginning writing students IEW's Structure and Style approach. Students reading at a 6th- 8th-grade level will delight in the humorous and exciting texts as they learn to write in incremental steps. Throughout the course, students are provided with clear assignments. These include vocabulary words and itemized checklists to ensure everything is included in their essay. It is recommended that students begin Fix It! Grammar to accompany this course. Combining grammar knowledge with thought-provoking writing topics such as the blue-ringed octopus, the Komodo Dragon, and the classic tale of Odysseus and the Cyclops, students will surely succeed in writing essays rich with new words and descriptive sentences. This course completes the second half of the book over fourteen weeks and provides opportunities for students to read their essays to the class. Students may wish to watch the accompanying DVDs for additional instruction, but this class does not require that. I will be the editor for students who wish to submit a rough draft for review before turning in their final draft.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence in writing.
Students will improve their English grammar.
