This course is designed for young learners learning to read. We will learn about vowel digraphs, also known as vowel teams, and diphthongs. Digraphs are when 2 vowels are put together to make a letter sound, i.e., ai, ay, ea, ee, ie, oe, ue, oa, with special sounds as oo, ea, ei, aw, au. Diphthongs are when 2 vowels are blended together but they make a brand new sound, i.e., oi, ow, ew, etc. Digraphs are 2 letters that make 1 sound while diphthongs make a sound that have 2 parts. Students will gain knowledge in digraphs and diphthongs and identifying them in simple words.
I have my bachelor's degree in elementary education where my concentration is in English. I have also spent this last year specifically teaching english to children.
A chart of Digraphs and Diphthongs will be provided to students.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
