Reading Code Level 2 - Vowel Teams & R-Controlled Vowels

In this interactive class, learners will apply their knowledge of letters and sounds to crack the reading code through playing with words, developing their oral language skills, and connecting their knowledge to reading multi-sound words, while growing their knowledge of vowel teams and r-controlled vowels. This class breakdown is listed below. Our classes are packed with activities that keep learners engaged in reading/writing and having fun!

The following is a breakdown of each session:
Oral Language Skill Building - rhyme
Letter Sound Fluency - most common phoneme sound 
Phonics Focus - blending sounds to read focus words
Phonics Focus - applying letter/sound knowledge to write focus words 
Rule Breaker Words - words that break the phoneme rules (e.g. the/was)
Read - decode a short text

This ongoing class is designed to build reading skills. Learners are welcome to join at any time. Each session is unique focusing on one phonics rule and does not build on the previous session. This Early Reading Skill Builders class will build confidence in young readers!

Week of Oct 28- ee/ea vowel teams
Week of Nov 4 - ie/igh vowel teams
Week of Nov 11 - ow/oa vowel teams
Week of Nov 18 - r-controlled -AR
Week of Nov 25 - r-controlled -ER
Week of Dec 2 - r-controlled -IR
Week of Dec 9 - r-controlled -OR
Week of Dec 16- r-controlled -UR
This nine week focus will cycle with new material each session.


Our Reading Code classes are based on current research on how children learn to read.
