Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
Artists Paul Richmond and Melissa Forman demonstrate the steps to create two different still life drawings. The first drawing will use a range of pencils to create subtle layers of shadow. The second involves erasing highlights on a base layer of charcoal and adding additional detail with pencil.

What You’ll Learn:

- Drawing Techniques: Learn about value, shading, and directional lighting and how it all affects the objects we draw
- Artistic Styles: Follow along as two artists approach drawing differently and develop your own artistic style from the lessons
- Weekly Practice: Experience the improvement in your skills with drawing exercises. The sky’s the limit once you learn the basics!

Course Features:

- Engaging Exercises: Each lesson is designed to be light-hearted and enjoyable, ensuring you’ll want to come back and learn more
- Comprehensive Curriculum: Teaching technical skills and creative expression, this class is perfect for beginners or as a refresher
- Interactive Learning: Paul and Melissa's approachable style makes learning accessible and entertaining

There will be no live meeting for this class. This course consists of eleven 10 minute video lessons. Each week, new lessons will be released, and students can participate on their own schedule, pausing the videos as much as needed to learn at their own pace. Students are encouraged to share their artwork and join in discussion on the class page. The course takes five weeks to complete. Paul will interact with students who share their artwork each week, providing feedback, encouragement, and support within two days of student submissions.
