In this ongoing drawing class we will focus on learning a different drawing technique each week and use them to make new and creative artworks! Aspiring artists will use the new technique to create an image in each lesson. We will also discuss the different Principles and Elements of Design that are closely associated with drawing so that we can get a deeper understanding of how to make images that are artistically pleasing to the eye. These lessons can be taken individually, however they will be building on one another. As we progress, so will the techniques we will learn in each lesson. Often it will be important for us to refer back to our earlier lessons so that we can choose the best drawing technique for the image we will be making. Overtime, we may also revisit a theme, for example we will have multiple weeks where we draw a still life or a portrait - each of these lessons will allow us to learn a new technique, as well as build and improve on the ones we previously practised. We will cover topics from understanding the basic structure of a face, to drawing caricatures. We will learn the importance of light and shadow in a still life, as well as practice drawing different textures. The possibilities are endless! Here is a breakdown of what to expect in each lesson: - Greeting - Introduction to the weeks art technique and assignment - Time to demonstrate, create and chat - Share art with the group - Closing/ Goodbye Weekly Topic Schedule ⬇️ Week of January 6th - Cartoon Animal Week of January 13th - Portrait - Learn to draw a Realistic Eye Week of January 20th - Landscape - Learn to draw a Desert Sunset Week of January 27th - Realistic Animal - Corgi Week of February 3rd - NO CLASSES Week of February 10th - Still Life - Fruit and Glass Week of February 17th - Zen Doodle - Learn a few principles and elements of design Week of February 24th - Fantasy Animal - Class Choice * Please take into consideration that every artist works at their own pace. Students may not always have a full image completed by the end of our lesson, but they will have learned a new artistic technique! I would love to encourage each artist to continue to work on their images after class time is over. And of course, if students would like to share, please post images of their finished work in the classroom!
