Skills include: phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight word fluency. We will work to increase decoding skills, reading fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Book selections utilized in this class include level AA, A, B. Level C may be used if learners are ready. We also work on 5 Star Sentence Writing practice.

JOIN ANYTIME as each class is independent and does not build upon one another. Class consists of 20 weekly lessons taught on a rotation schedule. Learners have the opportunity to experience all sessions no matter when they join.

ESL students welcomed and encouraged to join.

Learners will engage in fun interactive activities that include: phonemic awareness & phonics games, sight words, vocabulary and fun stories to read & discuss. We will discuss, fix, and write a sentence.

I will also screen share any activities or materials needed to participate and have fun. Please have a dry erase board & marker nearby should we need to use it. Paper and pencil/markers work too. These materials of course are optional, but will make learning more meaningful & fun.

Class Expectations for Learners:
~Have fun!
~Follow directions (Use your listening ears.)
~Be respectful to everyone in class. (Use kind words.)
~Be patient (wait patiently while others are talking.)

Class Notes:

~Class duration is 25 minutes (class could end a few minutes early or go over by a few minutes due to the number of learners and the overall pace of the class.)
~Please have a small dry erase board, eraser, and marker available to use during class time (paper and marker, pencil, or crayons work too!) These items are optional and are meant to enhance your child’s learning experience.

Class Policies:

~Learners will be moved from the waiting room into the class at the scheduled start time. If no learners are present, I will log out of the classroom after waiting for ten minutes.
~Each class session will begin at the scheduled time even if learners are not present. Again, after waiting ten minutes, session will close if no learners join by this time.
~Parent/Caregivers are encouraged to be nearby off camera (to the side of the screen/camera as this is an Outschool policy.) to assist your learner with technical operations of the live session (sign-in, making sure camera is turned on, muting/unmuting if needed, and sign-off at the end) I usually do not mute learners, however, if there is a feedback noise or noise in the background such as a tv or someone talking on a phone then I will use the mute feature so that all can hear throughout the class.
~Due to the number of learners and their pace moving through the planned activities, it is possible that we may end a few minutes early or go over by a few minutes.
~I will follow the refund policy outlined on the Outschool website.

I look forward to working with you and your child. I thank you for checking out my class offerings and hope to work with your learner soon.
