🥳Awesome Offer! Save on Outschool classes by enrolling in the Outschool Membership Program. Save $20 on your new membership enrollment by using code MsStace20. 🥳 Welcome Families! In this class, learners strengthen phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight word skills. We also work to increase vocabulary and decoding skills, reading fluency, and comprehension strategies. We will have fun and enjoy taking turns to read aloud. JOIN anytime as each class is independent and does not build upon one another. Class consists of 14 weekly lessons taught on a loop schedule. Learners will engage in fun interactive activities that may include: phonemic awareness & phonics games, sight words, vocabulary and fun stories to read & discuss. We will use interactive slides during the session. I will screen share any activities or materials needed to participate, learn, and have fun. Please have a dry erase board & marker nearby should we need to use it. Paper and pencil/markers work too. These materials of course are optional, but will make learning more meaningful & fun. Typical Class Routine: ~Greeting & Introductions ~Phonemic awareness and/or phonics activity ~Review sight words to increase fluency & reading accuracy - discuss spelling patterns in words ~Introduction of vocabulary words prior to reading story selection of the day ~Q & A to activate prior knowledge before reading story selection of the day ~Read & discuss story selection of the day ~Fluency activity, Mystery Words, Riddles, Spelling or Making Words activity ~Review session activities Sessions will include the following (selections may be swapped out depending on individual skill level): Week 4 4/28 1. Stone Soup Level K Week 5 5/5 The Parking Ticket Level H Week 6 5/12 Animal Jokes Level Week 7 5/19 At the Pond Level I No Class on Monday 5/26 - Memorial Day Holiday (Stay tuned....more info to come as dates approach.) Class Expectations for Learners: ~Have fun! ~Follow directions (Use your listening ears.) ~Be respectful to everyone in class. (Use kind words.) ~Be patient (wait patiently while others are talking.) Class Notes: ~Class duration is 25 minutes (class could end a few minutes early or go over by a few minutes due to the number of learners and the overall pace of the class depending on varying skill levels.) ~Please have a small dry erase board, eraser, and marker available to use during class time (paper and marker, pencil, or crayons work too!) These items are optional and are meant to enhance your child’s learning experience. Class Policies: ~Learners will be moved from the waiting room into the class at the scheduled start time. If no learners are present, I will log out of the classroom after waiting for ten minutes. ~Each class session will begin at the scheduled time even if learners are not present. ~Parent/Caregivers are encouraged to be nearby off camera (to the side of the screen/camera as this is an Outschool policy.) to assist your learner with technical operations of the live session (sign-in, making sure camera is turned on, muting/unmuting if needed, and sign-off at the end) I usually do not mute learners, however, if there is a feedback noise or noise in the background such as a tv or someone talking on a phone then I will use the mute feature so that all can hear throughout the class. ~Due to the number of learners and their pace moving through the planned activities, it is possible that we may end a few minutes early or go over by a few minutes. ~I will follow the refund policy outlined on the Outschool website. I look forward to working with you and your child. I thank you for the opportunity to teach your learner.
