Welcome to Honor Biology. Our bodies are made of more than a million amazing cells that function as a unit for us to live and thrive. This class helps the students discover what the cell is made of, how it functions as a single unit, and the organization of cells - tissues- organs, and Organ Systems. By the end of class, a student will be able to identify internal parts of the body (Anatomy)and how they function (Physiology.) The class is divided into TWO units: Cell Biology and Anatomy and Physiology Cell Biology teaches different types of cells such as Prokaryotic Cells and Eukaryotic Cells. Each cell organelle and its function will be discussed. PS: This class will cover male and female reproductive organs in the Urinary System in a scientific way. The student will learn how urine is produced and excreted from the body through the reproductive system. Learners will be provided with notes. The classes utilize videos to enhance each lesson. We will engage in class discussions and homework activities to review each lesson. There are exit quizzes at the end of each topic to review comprehension. All videos watched in class will be provided for students to rewatch reinforcing each lesson. *****Sept 2024 - May 2025******* CELL BIOLOGY Week 1: Prokaryotic Cells Week 2: Eukaryotic Cells Week 3: Cell Organelles Week 4: Cell Organelles Week 5: Cell Organelles and Organization Week 6: Cellular Transportation Week 7: Cell Cycle Week 8: Cell Division ________________________ ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY Week 9: The Eye Week 10: The Ear ________________________ CIRCULATORY SYSTEM Week 11: Blood Week 12: Heart Week 13: Circulation H-L-H-B ________________________ PULMONARY SYSTEM Week 14: Nose Week 15: Trachea and Lungs Week 16 Breathing and Gaseous Exchange ______________________________________________________________________ *****Spring Semester Jan 2025 Schedule - 18 WEEKS******* DIGESTIVE SYSTEM Week 1: Mouth and Teeth Week 2: Esophagus and Stomach Week 3: Small Intestines and Digestion Week 4: Large Intestines, Absorption, Rectum, and Excretion URINARY SYSTEM Week 5: Kidney Week 6: Nephron Week 7: Bladder PS: This class will cover the role of the male and female reproductive organs in the Urinary System.
