Discover the magical world of Harry Potter in this 9 week class by reading "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and discussing the reading. Each class learners will come prepared to class by having read the weeks chapters. I will have discussion questions for the learners to encourage them to talk about the reading as well as check for comprehension. The learners are free to ask their own questions about the reading. We will also discuss character development and plot development. This class is for the learner who is reading this for the first time and for a fan that want to discuss the book with other fans. Here is a weekly break down Week 1: Read chapters 1-4 and discuss Harry's encounter with the dementors and Harry's legal trouble. Week 2: Read chapters 5-9 and discuss the Order of the Phoenix and the Ministry of Magic. Week 3: Read chapters 10-13 and discuss what warning the sorting hat gives the school and Professor Umbridge. Week 4: Read chapters 14-17 and discuss the changes at Hogwarts and the meeting at Hog's Head. Week 5: Read chapters 18-21 and discuss where Hagrid has been. Week 6: Read chapters 22-25 and discuss how Christmas is different this school year and what is learned in the occlumency class. Week 7: Read chapters 26-29 and discuss how test scores matter in career choices. We will also talk about the different magical characters in this book. Week 8: Read chapters 30-33 and discuss the different test the students take and how important they affect students' futures. Week 9: Read chapters 34-38 and watch "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". We will discuss the differences in the film verses the book and they might have made the changes in the movie. Parental Guidance
