Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Intermediate Level
Discover the magical world of Harry Potter in this 6 week class by reading "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and discussing the reading. Each class learners will come prepared to class by having read the weeks chapters. I will have discussion questions for the learners to encourage them to talk about the reading as well as check for comprehension. The learners are free to ask their own questions about the reading. We will also discuss character development and plot development. This class is for the learner who is reading this for the first time and for a fan that want to discuss the book with other fans.

Here is a weekly break down

Week 1: Read chapters 1-3 and discuss how things are different and the same for Harry at the Dursleys. We will discuss the meeting of Dobby and Harry's visit to the Burrow.

Week 2: Read chapters 4-6 and discuss Harry's travel to Hogwarts and his trip Diagon Alley. We will also discuss the new professor Gilderoy Lockhart.

Week 3: Read chapters 7-9 and discuss the new trouble at Hogwarts. We will discuss the ghost of Hogwarts.

Week 4: Read chapters 10-12 and discuss what Harry learns when taking the polyjuice potion.

Week 5: Read chapters 13-15 and discuss Tom Riddles diary and what information the group learns from Aragog.

Week 6: Read chapters 16-18 and watch "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". We will discuss the differences in the film verses the book and they might have made the changes in the movie. We will also discuss how each of the characters helped to uncover the truth about the heir of Slytherin.

Thank you for taking a look at my class. Feel free to request a day/time for class if you don’t see one that fits your schedule.
