Gratitude changes everything! Learners will discover how to embrace gratefulness and find the good in all circumstances. From mundane moments to complex hurts, learners will be equipped to choose thankfulness and gain a fresh perspective.

In this 5-week course, students will learn about the importance of perspective. They will learn the benefit of seeing life in a positive way. Each class, we will focus on a different approach to embracing gratitude. Week One DEFINE: We will discuss the different lenses people see the world and how those lenses can determine our enjoyment of life. They will learn that how we filter circumstances and situations will affect the quality of our day to day living. In Class One, students will learn the power of word choice and the impact it has on our well-beings. They will be given sentences to reconstruct. They will learn how to take a negative statement and turn it into a positive one. By focusing on positivity, they will gain confidence knowing they can manage any outcome, whether past, present or future. Week Two: DISCOVER Students will learn the art of journaling. They will learn how writing can be a form of stress management and a way to organize thoughts. Through writing prompts and questions, students will embrace the beauty of keeping a daily gratitude journal. Students will work to build this practice into their daily routine. The students may opt to decorate their journals during class. Students will answer the prompts / questions outside of class. The entries will not be shared in class. Week Three: CREATE Students will creative a gratitude board. They will make a traditional one made out of magazine clippings glued on a poster board. They will cut and paste during class time. Students will take turns sharing things people in general are grateful for and why. The board is for the student to use as a gratitude tool at home. They will not share about their individual boards. Week Four: GIVE Gratitude in action. Students will learn how to share their new skill with others. They will come up with ways to show gratitude to those in their community who have made a positive impact on their lives. For homework, students will write a short essay on the importance of gratitude which will be presented in Class Five. Week Five: LIVE There will be review of the last 4 classes and a time for questions and answers. Students will then present their gratitude reports. This will be a time of celebration and encouragement.
