Class Experience

Students will improve their ability to identify and correctly use subjects, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions. By learning to diagram sentences, the students will better know how these parts of speech are used in speaking and writing.
Hello! I'm delighted that you are interested in this grammar class! I have a degree in secondary education and have enjoyed teaching English for grades 1-11. For the past eight years, I have homeschooled my own children. This has included walking them though these same concepts of learning the parts of speech, recognizing their functions in sentences, and using them correctly in speech and writing. I know you'll understand these concepts quickly also, as we systematically go through the steps of learning to diagram sentences. Thank you!!
-Ms. Katie
The homework for this FLEX class has 3 simple parts:
1. For each lesson, Ms. Katie will upload a set of sentences for the students to diagram. Templates will be provided to assist the students with diagramming.
2. Students will write and diagram one sentence per week of their own choosing.
3. Students will write one sentence for their classmates to diagram and turn in the following week.

The students will complete their homework by diagramming the sentences on the templates provided, and uploading a picture of it to the Outschool classroom.
Students are encouraged to take notes or diagram along with Ms. Katie while they are watching the videos.
Students will not be assigned a formal letter grade, but will have their homework checked each week and be given the opportunity to make corrections. This class is designed for mastery.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
