Intro to Diagramming Sentences: Strategies for Visual Learners

During this 4-week class, students will meet twice a week for 30 minutes and build the basic skills necessary to diagram sentences.  The focus for these 4 weeks is on diagramming each of the seven parts of speech (nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, interjections and conjunctions), as well how to visually represent phrases and compound and complex sentences.  On the first day of each week, students will learn how to diagram new elements, and the second class will include practice and questions. 

Week 1 - Grammar Basics (Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs), Subjects and Predicates
Week 2 - Diagramming Modifiers (Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Prepositional Phrases and Articles)
Week 3 - Combining with Conjunctions and adding inflection with Interjections (Compound Subjects and Predicates)
Week 4 - Build Better Sentences (Compound and Complex Sentences)
