US Grade 6 - 8
During this 4-week class, students will meet twice a week for 30 minutes and build the basic skills necessary to diagram sentences. The focus for these 4 weeks is on diagramming each of the seven parts of speech (nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, interjections and conjunctions), as well how to visually represent phrases and compound and complex sentences. On the first day of each week, students will learn how to diagram new elements, and the second class will include practice and questions. Week 1 - Grammar Basics (Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs), Subjects and Predicates Week 2 - Diagramming Modifiers (Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Prepositional Phrases and Articles) Week 3 - Combining with Conjunctions and adding inflection with Interjections (Compound Subjects and Predicates) Week 4 - Build Better Sentences (Compound and Complex Sentences)
Learning Goals
Students will master the seven parts of speech via visual representation of sentence diagramming.
Students will learn how diagramming helps us write better sentences, avoiding misplaced modifiers and other common errors.

Supply List
Students will need paper and a pen or pencil to draw diagrams during class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
