This is a basic introduction to three common types of transformations in Geometry. We will learn reflections, rotations, and translations with an easy and fun approach. It is not required that you have background knowledge of this topic to be successful with this lesson. I will assign a short video to view before the lesson, and an activity for class, with a homework section to complete after the lesson for review. Translations are introduced at the 3rd-5th grade level, and are found in middle school and high school geometry as well. Let's learn them now so we will understand them later:)

I have provided a document that includes task cards for class, and a homework activity to complete after the lesson. There is also a short video to view before class. You will receive them when you enroll. For the lesson, prepare a cut out of the letter E or F on colored construction paper (white paper will work if that's all you have). Don't worry, we can make it in class if necessary, just have paper and scissors handy for class. Review the short video before the lesson for a little background of the topic.

Math anxiety is a common problem for many students. I have seen it so many times in the classroom. It does not need to be! I teach Math with a simple, step-by-step approach, using a variety of engaging activities for all learning styles, and I have had great success with my students. I create a positive and relaxed environment for learning where students are comfortable. Children learn that they are free to ask questions, and yes, it is okay to make mistakes. Sometimes we learn most from the mistakes we make. I have been teaching K-6 grades for almost 20 years, and I have been a personal tutor for over ten. I believe all children can learn, and I work hard to meet all students needs. Learning is made fun in my classroom and students will find success, with academics, and building their confidence too.
