Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Mean, median, mode, and range are four kinds of "averages." There are many "averages" in statistics, but these are the most common, and are certainly the four students are likely to encounter.

In this class we will work hard and have fun learning how to find the mean, median, mode, and range through a presentation, short lecture, examples, discussion, practice, and a game. Students are not required to have any background knowledge on this topic before class begins. There will be no homework, but the sheets provided will give you some additional practice, should you want it.
The learners should leave this class understanding how to find the mean, median, mode, and range. I will teach these concepts with a simple step-by-step approach. At the end of class we will also play a fun game to review each one too.

Math anxiety is a common problem for many students. I have seen it so many times in the classroom. It does not need to be! I teach Math with a simple, step-by-step approach, using a variety of engaging activities for all learning styles, and I have had great success with my students. I create a positive and relaxed environment for learning, where students are comfortable. Children learn that they are free to ask questions, and yes, it is ok to make mistakes. Sometimes we learn most from the mistakes we make. I have been teaching K-8 grades for almost 20 years, and I have been a personal tutor for over ten. I believe all children can learn, and I work hard to meet all students needs. Learning is made fun in my classroom and students will find success, with academics, and building their confidence too.
