We will study the second half of fourth-grade English language arts. In reading, this includes mythology, structure of a text, point of view in fiction, forming opinions about a historical text, and using text features to understand non-fiction. In writing, this includes writing a narrative, and an opinion essay. In addition to these, we will study phonics to strengthen spelling and reading.

Our class will begin with a discussion, modeling from me, group work, and independent work. We will also play learning games, watch videos usually created by myself, and read books. Some of these books will be online.
Learning Goals
Build reading comprehension skills using text features, inferencing, and understanding of text structure.
Complete a narrative and an opinion essay based on a text.

I am an experienced teacher and curriculum developer. I love teaching all subjects, but especially math and reading. I have been a homeschool mother, public school teacher and college instructor. Outside of education, my background is in History and Anthropology. Additionally, I spent a decade as a novelist. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn as long as we find the right approach to teaching the material.

I work Monday through Friday. I keep Friday as light as possible because Monday through Thursday I work very long hours. If you message me, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
