Strategies taught in this class: *mistakes are learning opportunities *"Try Everything" - song from Zootopia *visualization *“small goals ladder" - breaking down a task in achievable little steps 📃Supplies for this class: coloring pens and paper to draw and write on. ________________________________________________________________ 📅 May 19th **Flip the Slip There are lots of different ways we could react when we make mistakes. An important part of having a growth mindset is understanding that mistakes don’t have to be a bad thing; they are new opportunities that we can overcome and learn from. Strategies taught in this class: *growth mindset vs fixed mindset *mistakes are new opportunities; *mistakes can lead to inventions *big vs small mistake? *the relationship between: thoughts, feelings, actions *"flip the slip" *"keep on rolling" exercise ____________________________________________________________________ 📅 May26th **Positive Thinking Do you think that anybody can be happy all the time - never worried, never sad, angry, scared or disappointed? In a way, it might be nice, but it is not realistic! Humans, however, feel all sorts of emotions. We can train our brain to focus on the positives, rather than the bad in any daily situation. Strategies taught in this class: *half-full or half-empty *"all or nothing" thinking *"Let It Go" - strategy and also the Disney Song *what is "mindset"? *growth mindset vs fixed mindset. ____________________________________________________________ 📅 June 2nd **Bounce Back Nobody on this planet is perfect, but every single human being is special and capable of achieving things they want to achieve. But what can you do when you reach setbacks? Strategies taught in this class: *what is "mindset"? *say "yes" to opportunities *build your support team *"role models" *how to stay motivated 📃Supplies for this class: play dough, paper, coloring pens ______________________________________________________________ 📅 June 9th **Mindshift Camp: Flexible Thinking & Growth Mindset What can we do when faced with changes we are not happy about? How can a growth mindset help us be flexible & adaptable? Strategies taught in this class: *growth mindset vs fixed mindset; *how to keep a positive mindset; *what does it mean to be a flexible thinker; *neuroplasticity - our brain can adapt; *the relationship between: thoughts, feelings, actions; *say-think-do strategy; *benefits of a growth mindset; *new mindset - new results. 📃Supplies for this class: paper and pens. _____________________________________________________________ 📅 June 16th **I Can Solve Problems When you try to solve problems, you show you have an incredible growth mindset. Solving problems requires creativity, resilience, collaboration and staying positive, which are all parts of the growth mindset! Strategies taught in this class: *growth mindset vs fixed mindset *solving problems on your own *take one step at a time *make a problem solving plan *problems solving in a team *one problem, multiple solutions 📃Supplies for this class: lego blocks or duplo, paper _________________________________________________________________ 📅 June 23rd **Resilience - Life Marathon Life is like a marathon with challenges, and triumphs. Resilience helps us navigate this marathon, enabling us to bounce back from setbacks, adapt to change, regroup, reorganize and keep moving forward. Strategies taught: *Understanding Resilience: What it is & why it matters; *Bounce Back: Recover from setbacks *Persistence and Perseverance: Keeping going even when things get tough; *Positive Self-Talk: Encouraging ourselves through challenges; *Knowing when and how to seek help from others ___________________________________________________________________ 📅 June 30th **Growth Mindset Express Practicing coping skills helps children manage their emotions, maintain positive relationships, and develop a growth mindset. Strategies taught in this class: *identifying and naming emotions *deep breathing *staying positive when faced with challenges *encouraging words for ourselves and others *positive self-talk and visualization *BONUS: game time with a Pokémon adventure! 📃Supplies for this class: fidget toys and other items that help children self-regulate ______________________________________________ 📅 July 7th **MARVEL-lous Choices Do you love superheroes? N O T E S ~ No prior experience with mindfulness or positive mindset strategies is needed. ~ This course supports all children's social-emotional development, not just those with emotional challenges. ~ Discussions focus on general examples, not personal issues. ~ The class might be taught by a different teacher than the teacher whose video you just watched because we have quite a few amazing teachers here at Sing Create Play and they all teach at different times, on different days.
