Bonjour! Tu parles français? This French for Beginners Class is for learners who are interested in communicating in French through immersion. In the first 6-week cycle, learners will focus on introducing themselves and work on a little project to present at the end of the cycle. This class will meet once a week for 45 minutes, and practice material will be provided. In each lesson, we will cover the four skills - listening, - speaking, - reading, - writing, with a strong emphasis on listening and speaking during the online session. We will - listen to short audio texts to train global as well as selective listening, - build up new vocabulary, - prepare short everyday conversations in French, - practice pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar in an intensive and ongoing way, - explore authentic situations and activities and train natural, spontaneous interaction. This class is highly interactive, and I will encourage every learner to speak as much French as possible during the course by creating a safe and warm atmosphere. My teaching style is flexible in order to meet learners' specific needs, preferences, and challenges. Oral communication is the key skill in this class, so we will focus on speaking and practicing little dialogues. In our meetings, we will use different kinds of texts, comic strips, activities, exercises, drawings, photos, videos, reference materials, grammar tables, verb lists, and a glossary. In addition, I will also use interactive, digital, and print materials that I have created over the course of the 16 years of leading career preparing and assessing students in French. Weekly breakup of the lessons taught in this expedition: Week 1 from September 6th: greetings alphabet, pronunciation how to introduce yourself Week 2 from September 13th: Revision numbers basic colours talking about the weather Week 3 from September 21st: Revision talking about family and friends Week 4 from September 28th: Revision Food and Beverages (preferences) Week 5 from October 5th: Revision Hobbies and Activities talking about preferences Week 6 from October 12th: Revision Days and Months (birthdays) Project: About me In this course, I will speak as much French as possible, but I am also specialized in explaining grammar in English and German if needed.
