55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one time 55 minute class, students will review adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers, with and without common denominators. Fractions can be intimidating for a lot of students, but they don't have to be! I like to make my classes as interactive as possible. I will engage students using word problems and games, and show them strategies they may not have seen before. I am happy to let students who are less comfortable speaking up in a group setting move at their own pace, while gently encouraging them to join in. We will start class with an ice breaker, then move into a short lesson, and end with an open discussion and question and answer session. This class is great for kids who are brand new to fractions, as well as for those who just need some extra help or supplemental instruction in a small class setting.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from Old Dominion University
Hello! My name is April Moser, and I am a former 6th grade classroom teacher, specializing in math. I live in Virginia, USA, near Washington, D.C.
In 2006 I earned a Masters Degree in Education, and went on to teach upper elementary school, focusing on math at all levels. Since having my own children, I have moved to online teaching, and have taught over 500 students online in the last few years!
I have always enjoyed math, and I have created a lot of classes that make learning math more exciting for the students. Each of our brains work differently, and that is the foundation on which I build my lessons. In class, if there are three ways to solve a problem, we will try them all! That way, your learner has a much better chance of understanding and grasping the concept.
We play Kahoot and Gimkit games to get the kids excited about reviewing concepts, and I am always available to answer questions when needed.
I look forward to meeting and working with your learner!
