In this twice weekly fifth grade math class, we will learn and practice math concepts each week. My classroom is very inclusive and friendly. I want students to feel welcome and comfortable, and they are encouraged to participate at their comfort level. As long as students are staying on task, they can be as vocal or quiet as they want. If a student prefers not to be called on to answer questions aloud, I will respect that. Students are encouraged to reach out with questions via classroom chat if they don't feel comfortable asking a question in front of the group. We have optional sharing/show and tell time each week, during which time students can share their pets, LEGO creations, toys, or art projects. I am always available via email to assist students, check their optional homework, or provide feedback. If a student would like feedback on an assignment, they can take a picture of it and post it in the classroom or send it via email. I do my best to get back to students within 24 hours. The class is setup in the following sections: Week 1: Place Value and Rounding Weeks 2-3: Addition and Subtraction Weeks 4-7: Multiplication Weeks 8-11: Division Weeks 12-14: Order of Operations Week 15: Integers Weeks 16-22: Fractions and Decimals Weeks 23-26: Geometry Weeks 27-30: Measurement Weeks 31-32: Data and Graphing Week 33: Factoring Week 34: Exponents Week 35: Algebra Week 36: Word Problems and Review Students will take a weekly assessment to determine proficiency. We will play review games on Gimkit and Kahoot each week, and I will post links to games they can play at home as informal assessments. Grades are available upon request.

Master's Degree in Education from Old Dominion University
Hello! My name is April Moser, and I am a former 6th grade classroom teacher, specializing in math. I live in Virginia, USA, near Washington, D.C.
In 2006 I earned a Masters Degree in Education, and went on to teach upper elementary school, focusing on math at all levels. Since having my own children, I have moved to online teaching, and have taught over 500 students online in the last few years!
I have always enjoyed math, and I have created a lot of classes that make learning math more exciting for the students. Each of our brains work differently, and that is the foundation on which I build my lessons. In class, if there are three ways to solve a problem, we will try them all! That way, your learner has a much better chance of understanding and grasping the concept.
We play Kahoot and Gimkit games to get the kids excited about reviewing concepts, and I am always available to answer questions when needed.
I look forward to meeting and working with your learner!
