Class Experience

US Grade 3
In this twice weekly 3rd grade math class, we will learn and practice math concepts each week. We will cover multiplication (times tables), division facts, place value, fractions, geometry, measurement and data, time and word problems.

My classroom is very inclusive and friendly. I want students to feel welcome and comfortable, and they are encouraged to participate at their comfort level. As long as students are staying on task, they can be as vocal or quiet as they want. If a student prefers not to be called on to answer questions aloud, I will respect that. Students are encouraged to reach out with questions via classroom chat if they don't feel comfortable asking a question in front of the group. We have optional sharing/show and tell time as well. Kids often love to share their pets, LEGO creations, toys or art projects with the class.

I am always available via email to assist students, check their optional homework, or provide feedback. If a student would like feedback on an assignment, they can take a picture of it and post it in the classroom or send it via email. I do my best to get back to students within 24 hours.

The class is setup in the following sections:

Weeks 1-3: Addition and Subtraction into the Thousands
Week 7-14: Multiplication/Times Tables
Weeks 15-19: Division Facts
Weeks 18-20: Fractions (identifying, comparing/ordering, finding equivalent)
Weeks 21-23: Place Value and Rounding
Weeks 24-27: Geometry (Area, Perimeter, Classifying Shapes)
Weeks 28-31: Time (telling time to the minute, quarter/half hour, hour, and word problems)
Weeks 32-34: Measurement and Data
Weeks 35-36: Word Problems and Review

Students will take a weekly assessment to determine proficiency. We will play review games on Gimkit and Kahoot each week, and I will post links to games they can play at home as informal assessments.

Grades are available upon request.

Hello! My name is April Moser, and I am a former 6th grade classroom teacher, specializing in math. I live in Virginia, USA, near Washington, D.C.

In 2006 I earned a Masters Degree in Education, and went on to teach upper elementary school, focusing on math at all levels. Since having my own children, I have moved to online teaching, and have taught over 500 students online in the last few years!

I have always enjoyed math, and I have created a lot of classes that make learning math more exciting for the students. Each of our brains work differently, and that is the foundation on which I build my lessons. In class, if there are three ways to solve a problem, we will try them all! That way, your learner has a much better chance of understanding and grasping the concept.

We play Kahoot and Gimkit games to get the kids excited about reviewing concepts, and I am always available to answer questions when needed.

I look forward to meeting and working with your learner!
