In this 10- week course, learners will be able to explore the world around them through a series of topics that form the foundation of geology. This is a collaborative class in which meetings will contain lecture, videos, question and answer, and discussion. Enrichment activities will be assigned for completion after class meetings to enhance positive learner outcomes. Live meetings will begin with a short review from the previous lesson before moving into lecture and discussion with...
Learners will be able to discuss various topics in geology and demonstrate their importance through activities or outside assignments.
I have a B.S. degree in Geology and real world field experience. I have worked in the public and private sectors and implemented the knowledge taught in this class on a daily basis. Learners will have the experience of being able to collaborate with a geologist on important topics and ask questions as necessary.
Learners will participate in some group discussion via the class forum and will also work independently on assignments to strengthen their knowledge. For some learners, homework may take an additional hour per week. For those who want to discover more on the topic, they may spend several hours. This is student dependent.
Please have a 3- ring binder, colored pencils, ruler, and graph paper handy. Other supplies, such as glue, or other household items will also be necessary. If you have any reason that you cannot obtain any item, please message me so that I can give an alternate assignment. I do not want any learner to miss out on the opportunity to participate in class activities.
Feedback will be given once a week on Sundays.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Some outside assignments may require that parents help learners who are younger.
We will refer to the U.S.G.S website as necessary.
