Is your student interested in forensics? In this one-time class, they will learn forensics basics. We will review what forensics is, different types of forensics techniques, and how forensics has changed from the past to the present. They will learn about forensic entomology, pathology, odontology, DNA evidence, fiber analysis, and more! We will also discuss what we think is the future of forensics and crime. This class includes a lecture and presentation, but I encourage students to participate. After class, students will receive class handouts that summarize important parts of the lesson.

Violent crimes and crimes involving assault will be discussed during this lesson. The main topic of the lesson is forensics, but I try to give examples of crimes solved using forensic techniques. Some of these crimes are violent and possibly involve assault. Please make sure that your student is mature enough to discuss these types of crimes. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Brittney.
I have a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice. I also have ESL certifications.
I teach classes about crime, mysteries, the US criminal justice system, and topics related to civics.
Why do I teach civics and criminal justice? I think it is important that everyone understands the fundamentals of why and how our criminal justice system operates. Our laws and ordinances should be a reflection of our nation's values. That can only happen if we understand how they work.
What about the fun stuff? I think it's all fun, but I do enjoy a good mystery and crime story. I also host book clubs for kids. I loved the American Girl books when I was a kid. I also enjoy reading the Magic Tree House books with my own children.
I look forward to meeting all bookworms, future investigators, and armchair detectives! If your student isn't one of those, that's ok! Learning about the justice system will help them be engaged, responsible citizens. Everyone is welcome!
I hope to see your student soon!
-Brittney
