In this 5-session self-paced art course, students will learn easy techniques for creating designs in one point perspective.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner - Intermediate Level
5 lessons//5 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction to/Review of One Point Perspective
We will draw and color 6 simple 3-d boxes that extend to the vanishing point.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
"Bird's Eye View
We will draw a "bird's eye view" of buildings, as if looking down from the sky.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
"Worm's Eye View"
We will draw a "worm's eye view" of buildings, looking up from the ground.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
City Block, Part 1
We will begin to draw a city block from street view.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
City Block, Part 2
We will add details and finish our street view city block.
  • Students will improve their understanding and skills in the use of one point perspective in their drawing.
I loved learning one point perspective in 7th grade art, and have had great success teaching it to my students in 4th through 7th grades and beyond. Over the years I have developed strategies for making the learning more accessible to younger students.

A handout with vocabulary and simple beginning steps will be provided prior to the first session.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
