Class Experience

LET'S GET FIT!!!

The class is pre-recorded with exercises and instruction explained by the instructor. This is similar to the live version offered currently on Outschool. It usually runs around 30 minutes. The student will follow along with each week's lesson and keep a journal of their individual progress. A pre and post fitness test will be given to assess growth. The class is available for four weeks with video instruction delivered once weekly. The final project will be to post pre- and post-fitness numbers as well as an optional short video demonstrating the student's favorite exercise to the classroom message board. Students will interact with the instructor via the discussion board where they can post videos of exercises they perform for form evaluation or ask questions as well as post gains they notice.

Here is a breakdown of weekly assignments:
-Complete workout once a week. The instructor will post a new workout video for each week. You can repeat the video lesson multiple times a week for maximum gains.
-Students will be encouraged to keep a journal of their progress. These will include accountability on which workouts learners completed, what they found challenging or too easy, and a prompt (such as choosing a fitness goal).
-Final Project (pre/post fitness results + optional brief video of favorite exercise)

See syllabus for weekly lesson breakdown.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Your student will need a small, clutter-free area to perform bodyweight exercises (calisthenics). Please provide your student with a clear, hazard free area. Keep pets out of the area during the class for safety reasons. Have your student wear loose fitting attire--or gym clothes--with sneakers. Please provide your student with a bottle of water--or a cup of water--no glass cups, please. Students may take short breaks, as needed, to catch his/her breath. Each class will begin with a greeting, a light stretch, and a short warm-up. Some of the sessions are difficult. Students not used to this level of exercise are encouraged to modify the workload by decreasing the amount of repetitions or by taking frequent breaks. I discuss these opportunities during class. However, even beginner students will thrive during these classes.
Supply List
Sneakers (I recommend athletic shoes but most of my students are barefoot) , water bottle, and a 5X5 area of space. I also recommend a notebook or journal but journaling can also be done on a computer.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

As a Former Marine and fitness guy, I have made it a life-long journey to exercise and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
I impart my knowledge of exercise techniques to the younger generation in hopes to inspire the same love of fitness in them.
I like to challenge students to go beyond what they think they can do. I challenge them to have a "can do" attitude. In every case to date...if the student applies himself or herself...their fitness levels and numbers will increase--dramatically in most cases.
I gently and positively push students further than they think they can go. For example: most new students don't believe they can do 75 flutter kicks or 50 push ups. My goal is to show them otherwise and in my live classes--students do these types of exercises daily! It's not magic--just hard work and believing you can do it.
My message to students is this: If you work hard...you will feel better; your mood will improve; your overall health will improve; and you'll be able to do more things.
We do all of this in a fun, light hearted, no-pressure atmosphere.
