Hello Wonderful Parents!

If you took my kindergarten class, or if you are going to be starting first grade, this class is for you!
We will learn sights words, and word families, and other beginning reading skills. We will work on our reading comprehension, and understanding the parts of a story and story elements. We will learn and master a variety of math skills, including but not limited to number identification, number sense, place value, addition, subtraction, shapes, patterns, and more. Students will also learn to write and share information in a variety of ways, including drawing, writing letters and words, listening to others, and speaking aloud.

Activities and skills we will work on include and are not limited to:
• Naming and writing upper and lowercase letters
• Matching letters to sounds and using other methods to figure out unfamiliar words when reading and writing
• Learning and using new words
• Identifying words that rhyme
• Reading sight words such as the, of, you, are, she, and my and more
• We will be learning to read CVC words, blends, digraphs, rhyming words, segmenting, blending, and identifying syllables in words.
• We will be learning different vowels rules to read CVCE and CVVC words.
• Reading Comprehension

This class has a lot of information to be learned. I do ask that you teach your child how to mute and unmute. I do sometimes need to mute, while I am teaching a concept. A simple background noise like a dog barking or someone on the phone, or even an echo depending on their location, or students making sounds, can disrupt the learning and flow of the class. I do love to engage with the students, and I ask that they know how to unmute themselves when called on. If your child is in a quiet environment, muting is not necessary, as long as they are respectful ( ie: not making noises, talking, singing during instruction.) I appreciate your understanding in this! It really does make the world of a difference. I want everyone to get what they deserve out of the class, with minimal distractions.

Please be sure to bring a white board, dry erase marker, and eraser or a piece of paper and pencil.

I have the privilege of teaching a diverse range of classes. In the mornings, I bring the magic of learning to our enthusiastic kindergarteners, guiding them through their first steps in education. I embark on adventures with the inquisitive minds of first graders, helping them build a strong foundation for their academic journey. Additionally, I lead a dynamic and interactive reading group, where we explore the enchanting world of literature together.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in International Studies. Over the past 15 years, I have been dedicated to honing my teaching skills through various roles in both public and private educational settings. This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the unique needs and potentials of young learners at every stage.

At the heart of my teaching philosophy lies a belief in the transformative power of a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. I see each child as a unique individual, deserving of respect, encouragement, and the freedom to express themselves authentically. I am committed to fostering a love for learning by infusing creativity, curiosity, and a sense of wonder into every lesson. It is my aspiration that through personalized guidance and a focus on social-emotional development, I not only cultivate academic excellence but also empower students with the skills and confidence to navigate the world around them.

You see, beyond the walls of school, I'm also the proud mom of two incredible boys who keep me on my toes, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Balancing teaching and motherhood is a whirlwind, but it's a whirlwind I wholeheartedly embrace. I believe that being their teacher and mom gives me a unique perspective and an extra sprinkle of magic in our everyday adventures.

So, dear families, I invite you to join me on this lively expedition. Together, we'll explore the wonders of education, celebrate the joys of childhood, and cherish every moment of this incredible journey.
