Students will play Bingo to practice solving single digit math equations by sight. The teacher will hold up a flash card with a simple addition equation and students will solve the equation and find the matching answer on their Bingo cards. First student to Bingo "wins"- bragging rights and a "reward" in class! At least two rounds of Bingo will be played, more if time allows. Class will be appropriately paced, to ensure students have ample time to answer and gain confidence in their individual math skills. Class will be high energy and encouraging, and filled with friendly competition and goods sportsmanship.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence in their quick thinking math skills in a fun environment that encourages repetition and retention.

Supply List
Please create a traditional 5 by 5 Bingo board with random numbers 2 through 18. Include a Free Space, and yes- a number may be used more than once. Also bring something to "mark" off the Bingo board. I suggest NOT using a writing utensil so that the board may be used more than once. Ideas include: cotton balls, cheerios, marshmallows, coins, or even cut up pieces of paper.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Jessica, or Teacher Jessica if you prefer. I look forward to sharing my love of literacy with your children. We will learn to be passionate readers through phonics, sight words, stories, writing, and improvisation courses. We will also explore my love of finance. There will be opportunities to practice fast math skills as well as learn about basic budgets and how to create one. I've been volunteering in classrooms (both indoor and outdoor alike) since high school. I would often step into educator rolls during summer camps. I prepare my own children for school and continue to volunteer in their classrooms. For the past 2.5 years, I have taught English as a second language to Chinese students online. It has further sparked my love of teaching to spread my wings here at Outschool. I am energetic and believe students not only participate more but retain more when the classroom is fun, rewarding, and encouraging. I have a background in theatre and put it to good use to keep kids of all ages engaged and excited about learning. My students are each uniquely special to me, and I can adapt my teaching style to meet them where they need support but also show them how much they are capable of independently. I want my students to have fun and learn new skills, but also gain confidence with each class we share together. A few personal things you might find interesting: I have a cat, named Hank. I am a mother to five wonderful children who teach me more every day. They are ages 4 months to 13 years old. My favorite food is tacos, any kind of delicious taco! I very much look forward to meeting your children in the classroom.
