This full year of homeschool and summer time ongoing weekly second grade math concepts will address various concepts that will prepare them for third grade. Greeting- 2-3 minutes Math Game 7 minutes Introduction of Concept and Practice- 13 minutes (each learner will use paper or white board and marker or teacher slides to interactively practice the concept) Puppet Visit and Conclusion- 2 minutes Learners in this class should know basic addition and subtraction, although we will also practice those very often. This class is ongoing so learners may join at any time. Concepts that will be taught are listed below (the summer schedule will combine weeks where the same concept is taught for multiple weeks so that we are able to teach more in the shortened summer schedule): Weeks one and two Weeks of 9/9 & 9/16: place value (including base ten) to thousands and number sense Weeks three through five Weeks of 9/23, 30 & 10/7: fractions in shapes, sets, and comparison Weeks six and seven Weeks of 10/14 & 21: addition with three digit numbers including regrouping (carrying) Weeks eight and nine Weeks of 10/28 & 11/4: telling time Weeks ten and eleven Weeks of 11/11 & 18: money Weeks twelve and thirteen Weeks of 12/2 & 9: graphing Week fifteen Week of 12/16: adding and subtracting ten and multiples of ten Weeks sixteen and seventeen Weeks of 1/6 & 13: measurements and estimation Weeks eighteen and nineteen Weeks of 1/20 & 27: subtraction including regrouping (borrowing) Week twenty Week of 2/3: word problems Weeks twenty one and twenty two Weeks of 2/10 & 17: multiplication (0, 1, 2, 5, 10) Weeks twenty three Week of 2/24: multiplication (3, 4, 11) Week twenty four Week of 3/3: rounding Weeks twenty five and twenty six Weeks of 3/10 & 17: borrowing with zeros Weeks twenty seven and twenty eight Weeks of 3/24 & 31: multiplication (6, 7) Weeks twenty nine and thirty Weeks of 4/7 & 4/14: multiplication (8, 9) Weeks thirty one and thirty two 4/21 & 28 introduction to division Week thirty three 5/5 elapsed time Week thirty four 5/12 thermometer and measurement Week thirty five 5/19 two part word problems
Learning Goals
Learners will be prepared for third grade math at the end of the course, provided they attend from the start and are consistent in their attendance.

Class time, including teaching of given topic and practice of that skill
Closing which may include a puppet, a game, or show and tell, depending on the type of class your learner is taking. My goal is to have every child smiling and excited to return to the next class!
