Mastering Addition & Subtraction Facts is a picture and story method for learning addition facts and applying them to rules of subtraction. Learners are introduced to characters, stories, songs, movement where they interact so facts are remembered. Addition and subtraction are useful for so many activities in every day life, you can't get around it. It's one of the main reasons young learners need to know how to add and subtract. It prepares learners for learning about other math topics, including multiplication and division in school, not to mention how to set a table or get the correct change at the toy store or the market, and even playing games. Addition helps develop crucial mathematical skills such as number sense, counting, and mental math. It teaches learners to manipulate numbers, understand number relationships, and apply mathematical concepts. Here in Mastering Addition & Subtraction Facts - An Easy, Fast and Fun Way! learners learn strategies that make the addition facts less overwhelming. Instead of memorizing every addition fact individually, learners will learn simple strategies through characters, stories, songs and movement to help them learn the facts in an easy, fast fun way. Focusing on strategy is a more efficient way to get a handle on the addition facts that some learners just haven't been able to grasp quite yet. But they will if they learn, practice, learn and apply what is taught here in Mastering Addition & Subtraction Facts - An Easy, Fast and Fun Way! Learners will learn the facts much more quickly and remember them much better when they use the strategies taught here to find the answers. And they will have fun learning them. Learners will develop a solid understanding of how numbers work, the operations of addition and subtraction. Learners will work on computation of numbers, learning addition facts as well listening to and retelling math fact stories. Learners may have an opportunity to play math games from time-to-time and have math challenges to complete, helping to make what learners sometimes believe to be a boring subject [math] FUN! These sessions are great for learners ages 7-9 years old who know some addition facts but need a deeper understanding of how numbers really work, want ongoing practice, stimulation and practice, or may need additional math help learning addition facts. Because these sessions are small in number, each learner will get attention at the level where they are performing. Learners, come sharpener your math skills, meet new friends and have a good time learning what numbers are all about and learn the addition math facts. Lessons are self contained so learners can join at any time, and hopefully stay for a while. For academic purposes, cameras and mics must be working and turned on for the duration of each lesson. Learners should go to the restroom, eat and drink before they come to class, have their supplies with them at the start of each lesson and be ready to learn. Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from Indiana University
Being an educator for forty + years, I've taught all subjects to students K-8 which included math classes at all levels. I've taught special needs students and designed full curriculum for K-12 students. In addition, I have taught students online for seven years. When I was a young student, I thought I didn't like math because any thing above addition and subtraction seemed a little hard for me. The truth was, I didn't understand the fundamentals of math numbers and their operations, even though I could calculate and get the right answers every time when adding or subtracting. This is why I am so passionate about learners understanding the concept and relationship to numbers and operations. Once they understand that, learners can build on the basic fundamentals taught at this age and excel in Math and really begin to love it as I do now.
Learning the basic addition facts is fundamental and a necessary part of a learner's mathematical success.
