I am an Enrichment Program Director with a nonprofit (501c3) and LLC. I regularly contract and partner with local schools and after-school programs using various art mediums and art-integrated curricula to teach (SEL) Social Emotional Learning competencies and 21st Century Life Skills. Art can also be very therapeutic and relaxing and helps to ease tensions or frustrations that a child may not otherwise be able to express. With over 30 years of experience working with youth and teens, I have earned my Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and Master's degree in SEL. As an educator, I love to see children excited in their exploration and self-discovery. I've witnessed children initially expressing doubt about their abilities, only to accomplish remarkable feats with patient guidance and coaching!

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Supportive guidance and reinforcement. No inappropriate content will be shown or given to students. At ages 7 to 12, children are in a stage where they're still learning about what's considered right or wrong. This means they may occasionally make mistakes, such as telling lies or engaging in behaviors that require correction or guidance from adults. Disclaimer: While the techniques and strategies shared in this curriculum are aimed at supporting children's emotional well-being and social development, it's crucial to recognize when additional support might be needed. If you observe that your child is experiencing significant challenges in managing their emotions, including anger, or if their social skills are not progressing as expected compared to their peers, it may indicate a need for further assessment. It should be clear that topics will not be clinical or therapeutic. I encourage you to communicate any concerns you may have with your child's teacher or a child mental health professional. Seeking professional guidance allows for a proactive approach to addressing potential issues. Early intervention, whether related to health concerns or learning disabilities, can greatly contribute to a smoother and more effective resolution.
