Beginner Level
This class will build on the basics we have learned in the first class. We will learn more about verbs in the present tense in indicative, infinitive, and imperative. We will learn more about noun cases. Throughout this learning, we will follow the Cornelian family's journey as they prepare to leave their country house for Rome.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to translate a Latin passage through a rigorous study of vocabulary and grammar. Beyond that, we will learn basic conversation in Latin. Here we will begin our journey towards reading the Latin writings of the Romans.
We will become exposed to Roman culture.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Not everything about Roman life was good, especially the practice of slavery. The best approach when dealing with these issues is to be honest about the good, the bad, and the ugly. That way, we can learn to emulate the good and criticize the bad.
Pre-Requisites
You should learn 3rd Person singular and plural verbs, subject and direct object forms for nouns, and the vocabulary for Chapters 1-7 of Ecce Romani.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

After taking Latin in both high school and college, I have been tutoring Latin for the last five years and taught in school for the last two. My experience covers a broad age range from fifth graders to adults. I have also used several different learning methods between deductive grammar, the reading method, and the living language approach. I am personally more drawn to the living language approach, but incorporating the other two under that umbrella have been equally important. One high school client I tutored from the ground up has since gone on to pass the AP Latin exam, and I aim to do the same with your children.
