US Grade 4 - 6
The students will have access to a world map they can download and print out. During class we will locate South Korea on the map and then discuss its location in concerns with Continent, Hemisphere, coastal or land locked. We will also discuss climate, culture, language and food. We will use this information to do a brief comparison to the country the students live in. The students can make a mark on their map after "visiting" South Korea. This can be a one time class if there is a specific country of interest or an ongoing adventure discovering many countries of a number of weeks. In this class we will focus on South Korea, the country I lived in for 3 years and where I gained my second degree black belt in Taekwondo.
Learning Goals
The students will learn the different continents, how seasons are affected by the different hemispheres as well as gain insight into different cultures to foster a better understanding of the world.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I lived in Seoul, Korea for 3 years teaching ESL. I started training and gained my 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo (all my lessons were in Korean). I traveled extensively throughout South Korea, including a trip to the DMZ. I was part of an inline skating group where I was the only foreigner which exposed me to much of the Korean culture. I learned to read and write Korean and speak and understand some basic Korean. I was lucky enough to participate in numerous traditional ceremonies and festivals and learned a lot about the culture from my friends and Taekwondo master.
