US Grade 6
We will be teaching Grade 6 (6APrimary Mathematics U.S. Edition Workbook). The class may have worksheets and activities. We may use games, slides, video, images, manipulatives to teach the material. We will be using the interactive whiteboard on Zoom so students are encouraged to share their responses using a mouse, in the chat box or using a drawing tablet. Previous Grade 5 Math experience or knowledge would be recommended because the curriculum moves quite fast. ================================================================ *Tentative Schedule: (Note: progression of lesson may vary depending on the needs and understanding of students) Week (Jan 6) 6A Algebra Covers: simple algebraic expressions, algebraic expressions Week (Jan 13) Algebra Covers: simplifying algebraic expressions, word problems Week (Jan 20) Solid Figures Covers: drawing solid figures, nets, word problems Week (Jan 27) Ratios Covers: ratio and fraction, ratio and proportion, word problems Week (Feb 3) Ratios Covers: changing rations, extra practice, word problems Week (Feb 10) Percentages Covers: Part of a whole as a percentage, one quantity as a percentage of another Week (Feb 17) Percentages Covers: one quantity as a percentage of another, word problems, review, solving percentage problems by unitary method Week (Feb 24) Speed Covers: Speed and average speed, word problem, review Week (Mar 3) Speed Covers: Word problems, Review, Word Problem Week (Mar 10) 6A Review Covers: Review, word problems, Final Test Please note: The topics will not cycle back to the beginning and new topics will be introduced in upcoming weeks in this order.

Parental Guidance
We may use Google Forms, Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets for teaching our class and for informal assessments during our class. Student may require a Gmail account to use them.
For class notes, I will be using Zoom Screen Share to share the questions to complete in class. Students will be predominately writing in their own Primary Mathematics textbook to complete classwork.

I have over 17 years of teaching experience in classrooms and in one to one tutoring settings. I believe in lifelong learning. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary with a Math and Science specialization. I also completed a Diploma in Early Years Education, Certificate in Kindergarten, Diploma in Special Education, and Certificate in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). I have worked with student ages from Pre-K to Grade 12.
I believe every student can learn and each student may learn differently. My job as an educator is to teach students and provide them with new challenges that stimulate their own thinking and inspire them to enjoy learning.Reviews
