Mrs. Howard is a literacy teacher who supports the power of creativity in reading. In this one time class, learners will be guided to relax and have fun painting a beautiful picture using brushes, sponges, and imaginations! During this class learners will stretch their creative side away from academics while strengthening self confidence, listening skills, following directions and social skills. 15 minutes: introduction, sharing background knowledge of flowers and colors, class guidelines, game, review of supplies 10 minutes: brush painting background 10 minutes: sponge painting with shades of greens and colors (student choice) 5 minutes: sharing pictures 10 minutes: storytime
Learning Goals
During this class learners will stretch their creative side away from academics while strengthening self confidence, listening skills, following directions and social skills. The goal for this class is to encourage creativity and imagination through art.

Supply List
Parents: Learners will need to have their paper taped down on a flat surface where they can work while viewing the teacher. The sponges will need to be wet and squeezed, not dripping. Water container will need to be nearby. Only paint colors chosen for this class are to be available in learning space (not entire kits). Please see the following for all supplies:
WATERCOLOR PAPER: 9 x 12 OR SOMETHING CLOSE
TAPE: MASKING TAPE, PAINTERS TAPE TO HOLD PAPER DOWN
CONTAINER: TO HOLD 2 CUPS OF WATER (SOMETHING WIDE AT BOTTOM TO
PREVENT SPILLS)
BRUSHES:
• ONE FLAT BRUSH WITH HALF-INCH WIDE BRISTLES
• ONE FLAT BRUSH WITH ONE-INCH WIDE BRISTLES
SMALL DRY WASHCLOTH/RAG
SPONGES: ANY KIND OF SPONGE CUT INTO 4 CIRCLES (approx. 2 inches)

ACRYLIC OR WATERCOLOR PAINT TUBES:
• 3 SMALL “TUBES” OF DIFFERENT SHADES OF GREENS
• 3 SMALL “TUBES” OF DIFFERENT SHADES OF ONE COLOR. STUDENT’S CHOICE OF: SHADES OF REDS, SHADES OF PURPLES OR SHADES OF ORANGES
• 1 SMALL “TUBE” OF WHITE

Hello! My name is Mrs. Theresa Howard. I am a certified teacher with 25 years of experience in the classroom (K-6).
