In this class, students will meet two times each week. Learners will enjoy activies and games in vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and spelling. The completion of previous level is recommended. #confidence #academic

Class experience

US Grade 1 - 2
Students will become more proficient in reading, language and spelling skills through use of phonics and engaging activities.  
Week 1 - Review letter sounds, vowel rules, multi-syllabic words, reading circle, fluency, letter blend games,
               decoding (sound out  words  presented by teacher), encoding (segmenting written dictated words), wiggle breaks, create 
                puzzles
Week 2 -  learning games, sounds of hard and soft g (go,giant), nouns, verbs, reading circle, fluency, decoding, encoding
               wiggle breaks, create puzzles
Week 3 - Homonyms, Synonyms reading circle, fluency, adjectives, manipulate blends, letter blend games for  sounds: -ear 
               (bear,earth,ear), ou (out),  ow (owl, snow), wiggle breaks.  reading circle, fluency, decoding, encoding, create puzzles
Week 4 - Learning games for sounds:  oi (foil) and oy (toy), similes, writing a story, reading circle, fluency, 
               decoding, encoding, wiggle breaks, create puzzles
Homework Offered
Students will have a word puzzle to enjoy as a review after each lesson. I recommend daily reading times throughout the week.
Assessments Offered
Progress is monitored through informal assessment during each lesson.
Grades Offered
Students will need a bin/box with the following supplies available at each class:  white board, 2 white board markers, white board eraser (a sock works), 2 pencils with erasers, twenty 3 X 5 cards, 20 sentence strips or paper that  an adult has "cut" into 22 X 3 inch strips (these may be purchased and taped together for length, or cut copy paper to size and tape together for length), child proof scissors, 8 large slide-lock baggies and one "di" (singular for dice).  
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
 Flyleaf.com has made available to instructors text for guided reading. Lessons will also include PowerPoint activities with sorting and segmenting and manipulating phonemes in words.
