Heart maps are designed to get your child thinking about things they like, love, and enjoy doing. Children can use these images as motivators, to set future goals for themselves, or to reflect on what they're grateful for. Sharing their passions with peers utilizes communication and social skills such as public speaking and conversational skills. We will also find commonalities with peers by creating a chart of things in our hearts at the end of class, building a sense of belonging and community.
Learning Goals
Students will learn:

VA:Cr2.3.3a: Individually or collaboratively construct representations, diagrams, or maps of places that are part of everyday lives.
“I CAN” Statements (Young Audiences Arts for Learning):
I CAN add details to give my artwork more meaning.
I CAN create works of art about people, places, and things in my life.
I CAN create a piece of art of a place I know by myself or with others.

Supply List
Students should have some type of paper (large paper is nice, but not necessary), and drawing/coloring tools, such as pencils, markers, crayons, watercolors, color pencils, pastels, etc. If they want to make the chart along with me at the end of class, a second piece of paper would be handy.
