30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Crash Crafting is a quick 30-minute crafting class designed for learners who like to try lots of things in a little bit of time! This is a crash course in three SPRING FLOWER crafts that kids can learn quickly and replicate on their own over and over for larger, lengthier projects. This is a fun, action-packed 30 minutes of doing! I will show the kiddos how to do each craft. We then practice together. I will always give them ideas of what to do next after they have learned these techniques and the class is over! Lots of times they can use what they learn to enhance their own school/learning projects, teach other kids (especially younger siblings), or create gifts for family and friends. This course includes the following SPRING FLOWER crafts: egg decorating, mini-print flower making, "writing charm" designing
Learning Goals
By the end of this short course, kids will know how to do three summer-season crafts. They may have already completed each craft or may have started one or more of the crafts and have the knowledge of how to complete them on their own.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, everyone!
I am so excited to be teaching on Outschool! I hope your kids will join me in an upcoming venture!
HEY, MISS LAURA! WHAT DO YOU TEACH?
Well, get ready for some unique and challenging classes! I've taught kids and adults in every grade from pre-school through college in a variety of classes from study skills to AP Physics. I've taught homeschoolers and "traditional" students face-to-face and online. Over the years I have found few opportunities for students to think creatively to solve problems and build their critical thinking skills. I want to change that by offering unique classes designed to challenge kids to think creatively and critically.
WHY SHOULD MY KIDS TAKE YOUR CLASSES?
When I teach I know every child is different. That isn't news to you. But so many lessons are focused on cookie-cutter learners. I have been an educator since the late 90s and I know of some teachers who have the same lesson plans as they did back then! How is that possible?
I am a learner-centered teacher. That basically means that the focus of my lessons is on the learner and not on the curriculum. In other words, I teach by facilitating the learning process based on your kids' needs, rather than pushing a lesson with me in the spotlight. Yes, there are times when learning requires listening to the teacher explain things; but many times there are more engaging options!
WHAT DO STUDENTS SAY ABOUT YOU AND YOUR CLASSES?
Kids describe my classes as fun, challenging, unique, and engaging. They describe me as entertaining, sincere, spontaneous, and friendly. I know they can tell that I love working with them and I genuinely love what I do!
WHAT ARE A FEW FUN THINGS ABOUT YOU?
I love dogs (especially my own hound mix, Abe), sports, writing, game shows, word/number puzzles, road trips to state and national parks, and arts/crafts. My favorite teams are the Chicago Cubs, Dallas Cowboys, and Detroit Red Wings. Death Valley is my favorite National Park, and Utah is my favorite state to visit.
