Students will help Mario and his friends count by 2s. We will begin counting by 2s starting with the number 2 and working our way up to 100. After students have practiced counting to 100, we will begin counting starting at different intervals. Students will practice using a 100 chart and a timeline. I teach using Google Slides and fun pictures of Mario and his friends. I encourage participation from each student. I give each student an opportunity to practice independently if they are willing. We also participate in class as a whole group. I am a fun, upbeat teacher. I believe learning should be fun and enjoyable. Students will learn skip counting by 2s include numbers that end with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8. I encourage students to print off the number chart attached and lightly color in the rows ending with 2s, 4s, 6s, 8s, and 0s. This will help them see the pattern and practice skip counting by 2s. Students will benefit more from this class if they can count by 1s and identify numbers 1-100. They do not need an prior experience of counting by twos.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to count by 2s beginning and ending at different intervals along a number line or on a 100's chart.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! My name is Rebecca Lockhart. I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and I am a certified teacher for grades K-8. I have taught all subjects in the public schools, ESL (English as a Second Language) online, and I currently homeschool my three children ages 5-11. I also teach a Nature Studies course in my area and facilitate two book clubs on a weekly basis.
I began my teaching career nineteen years ago. It is difficult for me to narrow down my favorite subjects. I just enjoy teaching. I guess if I had to peg down a few, my favorite subjects would include grammar, reading, math, and history. I started my own book club over six years ago to feed my love of consuming books. I recently began a book club for my oldest child and several of her friends to help them find great novels and learn skills to help increase their reading ability, comprehension and enjoyment. I love to write. Many call me a grammar nerd. I have dreams of being an author when I grow up. ;) Math is a skill I am passionate about. I believe a solid foundation early on can really help a learner succeed in math the rest of their life. I am also passionate about Nature Study and learning about the world around us. I believe, in a world full of technology, that it is essential and very beneficial for students to get outdoors and observe the world around them.
I have been teaching online since spring of 2019 and I joined Outschool in the summer of 2020.
I enjoy meeting students from all around the globe. Once you have been in my class, you will realize I'm upbeat, maybe a little silly at times, but I am excited to get my students to learn and most importantly love learning.
I hope to see your child soon!
