Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In this class, students will learn how to complete the order of operations referring to PEMDAS (without the acronym) in order to complete the order of operations in complete steps.

In this class, students will be provided a handout that lists the steps (with fill in blanks), and space to work out each problem. Students are encouraged to rewrite each line to visibly see the steps to solve order of operations. Students will send messages in the chat with answers (knowledge of how to use chat is ideal, but students will be asked to test this in the beginning of class). Students will also take turns alternating on solving problems on the screen.

After class, students will receive a review game link to review order of operations, as well as a practice sheet to continue practicing of skills.

Basic knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are needed for this class. Students do not need to know order of operations to enroll in this class.

I have taught 5th grade for two years, and have privately tutored math to elementary students and high school students for several years. I have been a teacher for 10 years. I like to focus in on skills that work with students to help them be successful in solving problems and identify areas of weakness to help students catch mistakes to gain fluency in skills.
