US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
~~Please check dates before registering as some classes are available ONCE per week, TWICE per week, THREE times per week, and FOUR times per week!~~ Are you looking for a great way to get your pre-k child learning numbers and math equations in time for Kindergarten, or want your older child to review numbers and computations (This class is great for pre-k through 2nd grade)? Look no further. This class offers tools your child will need to be successful and confident in their math skills. Every day, learners will have the opportunity to engage with one another, learn new numbers in a specific order that they can eventually add and subtract with, and stay engaged throughout class using a variety of strategies to maintain knowledge retention. Based off my popular preschool reading class, designed by the same company, this math course will follow a similar outline. Classes will follow the same structure each week. +Class structure: •Welcome song •Introduction to number or operation through visual, song, story, and repetition •Reinforcement of number or operation through worksheets or activities •Activity or assignments that may be finished at home Each class we will learn one of the three critical concepts: NUMBERS, OPERATIONS, and COMPUTATIONS in that order. +What will be taught: •We will focus on WHOLE NUMBERS first, then ORDINAL NUMBERING, CARDINAL NUMBERING, then BASE TEN NUMBERING SYSTEM. The students will learn that each number has a value and will be able to connect number words to quantities. •Once whole numbers are understood we will move into OPERATIONS- addition and subtraction, as well as the symbols. •COMPUTATION- using a multi sensory approach all children will be able to connect with how to solve different math equations; from character objects to number strips, even stickers and worksheets. +Class Schedule for 2 days per week. This will be adjusted based on how many days per week you register for. Week one: we will start with introducing the program then dive into learning about numbers 1-4, how to write them and use them through rhymes and activities found in the class workbook •Class 1: Intro, numbers 1-2 (lesson 1-2) •Class 2: numbers 3-4 (lesson 3-4) Week two: we will learn to write and use number 5, review 1-5, then learn about numbers 6 and 7 in a fun and creative way •Class 3: number 5/review (lesson 5-6) •Class 4: numbers 6-7 (lesson 7-8) Week three: we will learn to write and use numbers 8-10 and do a fun review on these numbers •Class 5: numbers 8-9 (lesson 9-10) •Class 6: number 10/review (lesson 11-12) Week four: we will learn to write and identify numbers 11-14 and practice using our workbooks and stickers •Class 7: numbers 11-12 (lesson 13-14) •Class 8: numbers 13-14 (lesson 15-16) Week five: we will learn to write and identify numbers 15-18 and their value •Class 9: numbers 15-16 (lesson 17-18) •Class 10: numbers 17-18 (lesson 19-20) Week six: we will finish up numbers up to 20, review those, and learn about which numbers are bigger or smaller than each other •Class 11: numbers 19, 20, review (lesson 21-23) •Class 12: finish review, greater/less than (lesson 23-24) Week seven: we will start into addition problems by reviewing a numbers’ value and learning about symbols used in math •Class 13: 1+1=2 (lesson 25-26) •Class 14: 2+2=4 (lesson 27-28) Week eight: we will continue addition problems with bigger numbers while using these computations in real life situations with our really cool demo story boards •Class 15: 3+3=6 (lesson 29-30) •Class 16: 4+4=8 (lesson 31-32) Week nine: we will continue addition problems and add mixed numbers to our equations •Class 17: 5+5=10 (lesson 33-34) •Class 18: 2+3=5 (lesson 35-36) Week ten: we will introduce subtraction problems and learn to solve in a fun and memorable way •Class 19: 1+4=5 (lesson 37-38) •Class 20: 4-2=2 (lesson 39-40) Week eleven: we will finish up subtraction problems with fun activities like using our characters and story problems •Class 21: 6-3=3, 3-3=0 (lesson 41-42) •Class 22: 7-3=4, 4-4=0 (lesson 43-44) Week twelve: we will learn about base ten numbering, doing a review, and having a fun graduation party •Class 23: base ten numbering (lesson 45) •Class 24: review/graduation +Learner info: This course is great for kids who are just starting to learn their numbers. We will learn numbers 1-20 first, how to write them, and use them. Then we will jump into addition and subtraction problems. Lastly, we will use these skills to solve everyday math scenarios. +Just for fun: We will celebrate holidays, birthdays, and fun events on the calendar, as well as take breaks for major holidays or school breaks. +About me: I teach in a fun and upbeat manner. I love watching the children learn a new concept. We sing songs, tell stories, and have so much fun the students hardly know they are learning. +Additional Info and Accreditation: Our 15 Minute Math program was designed in accordance with standards set by the National Council of Teachers to prepare children for excellence in numbers, operations, and computations. No other program on the market can do better than 15 Minute Math. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Preschool, prek, pre-k, kindergarten, kinder, abcs, letters, alphabet, sounds, writing, phonics, phonemic awareness, CVC, math, numbers, counting, shapes, colors, homeschool, education, teach, learn, ESL, English, math, semester, full year, home education, circle time, show and tell, share
