US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Beginner Level
In this ongoing class, students in prek-1st grade will learn a variety of science topics including but not limited to, weather, plants, space, dinosaurs, five senses, habitats, animals, Earth events, Earth’s features, insects, life cycles and more! Sample session schedule 5 minutes - welcome/discussion questions 15-20 minutes - focused lesson on Nearpod (Please see below for what to expect) 5-10 minutes- review games & closing Nearpod is used for our lesson. This includes slides, interactive games, quizzes, and more. There is also 1-2 quick Youtube videos to show either an at-home experiment that students can try and/or a song that highlights the vocabulary/topic. Students will be given ample opportunities to engage in discussion through guided, open ended questions. Your child will get the most from this class when they are engaged, asking questions, participating in discussion and games. As we go through our Nearpod lesson/slides, we stop and talk, ask questions and/or share our experiences with the topic. This is an ESL friendly class! Learning Goals
Students will learn new science vocabulary and expand their knowledge of a variety of science topics through beginner friendly discussions, games, and lessons.

Pre-Requisites
No previous knowledge needed. However, students will get the most from this class when they can engage in simple, guided, discussion among peers.

Hi everyone! Welcome to class! I am Miss Kate. I have 15+ years of teaching experience with students ages 2-14 years old. I am passionate about early childhood education and building the foundation for life long learning. My classes will be engaging and focus on a variety of topics including early literacy, early math and life skills. I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and 3 (yes, three) big dogs!
I believe in engaging and playful learning and will teach my classes in a fun and interactive way including songs, digital & interactive games, and lots of interaction and opportunities for engagement.
I am certified to teach K-8 Elementary, K-12 Special Education and Early Childhood Education. In addition, I have a certificate in Child Psychology from Penn Foster, a certificate in Autism Studies from Arizona State University and a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from Arizona State University. I love to teach and look forward to meeting your child!
